The Montessori Method Fosters Brilliance!

On the Barbara Walters ABC-TV Special "The 10 Most Fascinating People Of 2004," Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google, remarked that their years of Montessori education was likely a major contributory factor in their success.  Ms. Walters asked if the fact that their parents were college professors was a contributor as well. They replied that their attending a Montessori school contributed to a greater degree than their parents being professors.  Montessori education, they felt, taught them be self-directed and become self-starters. It permitted them to learn to think for themselves and gave them freedom to pursue their own interests.

Did you know that people who went to Montessori schools include many of the success stories and the great thinkers and leaders of our times? In one way or another, they all support the Montessori method. Here is only a partial list of people in history who have either attended Montessori schools, or sent their children to Montessori schools, or have supported the Montessori Method of education in some way: Henry Ford, Alice Waters, Friedrich Hundertwasser, Julia Child, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Helen Keller, Mahatma Gandhi, Sigmund Freud, Buckminster Fuller, Leo Tolstoy, Bertrand Russell, Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, John Holt, Anne Frank, the Dalai Lama, Jacqueline Kennedy, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Prince William and Prince Harry of the English royal family, Yul Brynner, Katherine Graham, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jeff Bezos, Melissa and Sarah Gilbert, Patty Duke Austin, Cher Bono, Michael Douglas and Yo Yo Ma.
